Solo FAQ: How Joining a Group Works
Can I join alone? Yes — that is the point of a group-joining trek. You book a seat on a scheduled departure and trek with the group that forms for that date; you do not need to arrive with a group. Rooms are twin-sharing. On Everest Base Camp a single supplement of $295 applies if you want a private room. Is a guide included? Yes — every group has a licensed guide, and a guide is required on Everest Base Camp and legally required on Manaslu. Do I pay more as a solo traveller? No — the per-person price above is the price, whatever the group size. Manaslu needs a minimum of 2 trekkers per departure, so solo travellers there are grouped with others.
Group Size: Who You Will Trek With
Group sizes are published per trek: Everest Base Camp 1–20 trekkers, Everest Base Camp by Road 2–10, Everest View 1–20, Short Annapurna Base Camp 1–20, ABC with Helicopter Return 1–10, and Manaslu Circuit 2–20. On Everest Base Camp we provide 1 porter per 2 trekkers, and a porter carries 20–25 kg in total — you carry only a daypack of 5–7 kg.
The Deposit: 20% to Hold Your Place
A 20% advance deposit secures your place on a group departure; the balance is paid on arrival before departure. Cancel 20 or more days before departure and you get a 100% refund except bank transfer charges, processed in 7–14 working days. Under 20 days, the deposit is non-refundable, and costs already paid (permits, domestic flights, hotels, government fees) are deducted. Travel insurance is mandatory on all our treks, including cover for high-altitude trekking and emergency helicopter evacuation.
