ABC with helicopter return for $790: trek up to Annapurna Base Camp in 3 days and fly back to Pokhara by helicopter on day 4. Time saved, the heli leg, weather and group-joining prices.
ABC with Helicopter Return: Worth It? Cost & What You Get
The walk back from Annapurna Base Camp takes three days. The helicopter takes you straight back to Pokhara instead. That is the whole case for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return — $790 per person, 4 days — and the question is whether the flight is worth it for you. Here is the cost, the time saved, the heli leg itself, and what happens if the weather turns.
Time Saved: 4 Days Instead of 10
The Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes 10 days, including 2 days of travel between Kathmandu and Pokhara and a 3-day walk back down from Base Camp. The heli-return version takes 4 days and starts and ends in Pokhara — no Kathmandu–Pokhara travel days at all. You reach Annapurna Base Camp on day 3, the same as on the longer trek, and you save 6 days overall. It is graded Easy and suits moderately fit trekkers. If you are short on time but still want to stand in the Annapurna Sanctuary, this is the version built for you.
The Heli Leg: From ABC to Pokhara by Helicopter
Day 1: drive from Pokhara to Jhinu Danda and trek to Sinuwa. Day 2: trek from Sinuwa to Deurali. Day 3: trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), through Machhapuchhre Base Camp and into the glacier basin. Day 4: a helicopter flight from Annapurna Base Camp back to Pokhara. You get the same sanctuary, the same 360° mountain view and the same maximum altitude (4,130 m) as the 10-day trek — and a scenic flight over the villages and forests you walked through.
Weather: What Happens If the Helicopter Cannot Fly
Helicopter flights in the mountains depend on the weather, and a flight can be delayed or held for poor visibility. There is no heli-specific refund in our terms — the weather policy that applies is the same as on every trek: if weather cancels part of your trip once you are on it, you get a 50% refund of the remaining unused trip days, or a 100% transfer of the unused amount as credit for a future trip (valid 24 months, non-transferable, usable on any trek, tour or expedition). No refund applies to services already used. Keep a buffer day in Pokhara after the trek if your onward plans are tight.
Group-Joining Heli Price: $790, With Real Dates
