Per-Day Cost: What You Actually Pay Per Day on the Trail

The per-day cost is the sale price divided by the number of days, and it shows what you are really paying for. The Short ABC is the cheapest per day at $55 — 10 days for $550, with the ACAP permit, guide, porter, full-board meals and teahouses included. Manaslu is $87 a day for 15 days of remote trekking with restricted-area permits handled. The helicopter treks look expensive per day — ABC Heli $198, EBC Heli Return $192 — because the helicopter flight is inside the price: you are paying for days you did not have to walk. Everest Base Camp at $177 a day includes the Lukla flights (around $180–$220 round trip bought separately), the permits, guide, porter, teahouses and full-board meals — the flight alone is most of the difference between EBC and the by-road version at $100 a day.

4 days: ABC Trek with Helicopter Return, $790 — the only real Annapurna Base Camp option in 4 days. 10 days: Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek, $550 — the cheapest per day ($55) and the lowest total price on this list. 11 days: Langtang Valley Trek, $1,145 ($104/day, no domestic flights, close to Kathmandu); Everest View Trek, $1,250 ($114/day, Everest views without Base Camp); or Annapurna Circuit Trek, $1,450 ($132/day, Thorung La Pass 5,416 m). 15–16 days: Everest Base Camp Trek, $2,650 ($177/day, the classic); Everest Base Camp by Road, $1,599 ($100/day, no Lukla flight); or Manaslu Circuit Trek, $1,300 ($87/day, restricted- area permits included, minimum 2 trekkers).
